Former London’s Burning actor John Alford has been found guilty of sexually assaulting girls aged 14 and 15 at a friend’s home.

The 53-year-old, who rose to fame in BBC show Grange Hill, was found guilty following a trial at St Albans Crown Court.

Alford, of Holloway, north London, was charged under his real name John Shannon.

The actor had previously told the court allegations he had sexually abused the girls were a “set-up”.
